SOUL HUNTER

When I originally decided to purchase a Passat, I wanted the car to be black, with black leather interior. Due to the sudden rise in popularity at the time, my ideal color combination could not be located within my time frame. The choice came down to either White or Colorado Red. Based on past experiences with a White car, I chose the Colorado Red. However, the car did not have the leather and instead came with the black fabric interior. Two days after taking delivery of the car, it was handed over to Classic Soft Trim in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and I had the seats converted to leather while visiting Moms.

CST did a brilliant job. They covered all the seats, all the headrests, including the three in the rear, all the door panels and the center armrest (located between the driver's and passenger's seat in my '99). The leather feels durable and CST, to my knowledge, remains the only aftermarket company that warranty's the side airbags which deploy from the side of the front seats. The total cost was $952.00, which is what the dealership would have charged me for the stock leather. The front seats have a very nice VW emblem embroidered into the seats, which is a nice optional touch.

Several other additions have been made to the interior of the trunk. After seeing the movie Ronin, I became aware of the optional warning triangle available for the Passat. In the roof of the trunk lid is an indentation that is made for the triangle. I purchased the triangle from a local dealership for approximately $52.00 and installed it myself. I also added a first aid kit as well as a small tool kit which fit perfectly in the side panel of the Passat. I then added a cargo net to the trunk which allows me to place objects such as grocery bags, etc. without them sliding around. The net is from a Mercedes M-Class SUV and costs approximately $30 with shipping from Clair parts.

Here are several pictures of the interior modifications made to the Passat.
